The village is home to one of Goa's oldest churches, the beautiful church of Salvador do Mundo, which was built 1565 and is named after the village patron. Salvador do Mundo is well connected to Porvorim, Penha de Franca and Mapusa. Teak, cashew and mango trees abound in this quaint village. The land to the west of the village is covered by lush green paddy fields watered by a tidal creek. The village also has a nature reserve for migratory birds.
